Great bike, speedy and comfortable
Posted by Phil Macdonald on 2019 Nov 21st
I have now had a couple of months to use my bike and so far, so good. It is really nice to speed along and pedaling into some serious head winds was a piece of cake. I have no previous experience with disc brakes on a bike so the adjustment was a bit of a learning curve but now I am really happy with the stopping power, especially with the greater speed. I really like the torque sensor as the bike feels like a bike, you just go faster. The quality for the price is excellent. Well finished and out together. Assembly out of the box was minimal. and it came really well packaged. I find the battery life excellent but I make good use of the gears.
Pros- really comfortable, the grips on the handlebar are nice, the rack is great, the headlight is nice and bright and it is really nice that the bike comes set up out of the box as a commuter with head and tail lights, fenders and a pannier rack and shocks .
cons- The front fender rattles on bumps, the taillight takes aaa batteries (bright enough though), the derailleur is a bit clunky and it is pretty heavy but I think that is a true of any e-bike.
Really happy so far. I got the Schwalbe 4 season tires and they have been great, even in the snow and ice.

This bike is amazing! If fulfills all the needs I was hoping it would. I bought this bike to use for an ambitious 90km round-trip commute to work. I was looking for something that would get me there reliably and as quickly as I could pedal it. The CrossCurrent S 52V did not disappoint! When I was younger, I raced bikes in triathlons so I was looking for a big front ring to let me push as hard as I could without spinning out. The 52T front ring is exactly what I needed.
The battery has more than enough juice from 100% to get me there even with all that I throw at it. With the weight of the bike, the paniers and myself, it is easy to hit 40+km/h without pedal assist on any downward grade. Going uphill requires a little more effort to get above the 32km/h cutoff. Big hills are nothing with this bike. Even on a steep hill, the throttle will keep you above 20km/h for the most part.
Things to consider:
I had a flat my first ride due to a nail that went in and sliced the tube bigger than I could repair with a patch. I had my toolkit and wrenches but did not bring an offset wrench for the back wheel. Unfortunately, that meant a call for a pick-up because I couldn’t remove the wheel. It is definitely worth considering adding the juiced-specific wrench to simplify things. If you don’t already have an 18mm offset box wrench, the juiced tool is well priced for a single wrench that won’t round the nut on your axle!
The battery has the ranges it describes, but as it nears the end of its capacity it throttles the amount of power given in order to prolong the ride. This is something to consider if you have a big hill at the end of your ride and you are stretching the range of your battery.
The rear light is battery operated so don’t forget to turn it off after your ride or you’ll go through AAAs quickly! This happened once to me when I started off in the morning when it was darker and arrived in bright sunlight. Didn’t even notice it blinking away when I parked my bike for the weekend. Needless to say, it was dead by Monday.
The bike comes in an oversized bike box so that you don’t have to attach and set up the handlebars. Just pull it out and screw on the fender and pop in the wheel and you’re ready to go.
If you are buying the 48V bike, the better tires and Grin charger are worthy considerations. The tires are robust, and the charger allows you to set the charge levels to prolong the life of your battery.
Dave is awesome with customer service and support. He took the time to explain things to me and answer all my questions before my purchase and after.
The Juiced website has great tutorial videos that cover everything from assembly to how to set the controller to your liking/needs.
I highly recommend the CrossCurrent S for all your commuting needs.
Excellent customer service

Had an issue with the bike and it was addressed promptly upon informing David. The bike feels heavier than it looks but it is pretty nimble, has a quality feel, and offers smooth ride. However, I am a bit disappointed with how long the battery lasts if you use throttle frequently. Overall, no regrets, I like it and would recommend it to anyone looking for a commuter ebike.
rough delivery, attention to detail

A bit disappointed at the delivery - box was open, delivery guy just pulled them off a truck and let them smash to the ground with a 3 ft drop. The front forks were scratched, ring assembly around the key was rolling around in the box, the plastic piece that protects the front forks was smashed, the battery was VERY difficult to install and a few spokes looked a little worse for wear..... the assembly videos were helpful and the bike itself is a delight to ride. The performance is very impressive - lots of fun. Most of the issues were cosmetic but for this kind of money (and maybe its just me) but I like the bike to look new when I pull it out of the box.
Feel a bit bad because I think most of the damage happened during shipping.

received my bike in 5 days, so very happy. Have been out on it everyday, and very happy with the speed and longevity of the battery.
Fantastic commuter Bike!!!

I have been looking at e-bikes for a while now and this Cross Current S had everything I wanted. It has the front suspension, thumb throttle option, front and rear fenders, rear rack, and a powerful motor. So far the bike has been great and very fun to ride. I can commute to work faster on this bike then I can drive as there is no traffic on the bike path. I have ha$ a few minor items that needed adjusting, but David from Hill Eaters has been excellent with explaining what to do. The only very minor complaint would be the front fender seems to rattle quite a bit, I will get this figured out. Other than this I am extremely happy with my purchase and I tell everyone where my Juiced bike comes from.
Even better than I expected!

I have wanted an e-bike for quite a long time. I've waited and investigated all of my options over the years as I wanted to make sure that when I was ready to make the purchase that I get the most suitable bike and the best value for my money.
I have taken test rides on a few bikes over the years, but for some reason the feel was not quite right. I have persevered knowing that one day I'd find that bike that had it all.. power, range, comfort, quality components, great reviews from other customers, etc.
I found just that with the Juiced CrossCurrent S!
The day after test riding the some used Juiced bikes (priced at full retail) I looked online and found HillEaters, the online dealer for Juiced bikes in Canada. I was so excited! I decided to buy the new bikes instead. It was a no brainer to buy new over used.
I customized my order to get the perfect bikes for me and my wife. The CrossCurrent with the upgraded 52 volt battery has so much more power than the 48volt and the range is awesome! I like to use the throttle for extra boost going up the hills. Wow! Hills are so much fun now! The steeper the better! Not only that, I received the best service ever from David. He was patient and took all the time in the world to answer all my questions.
The bikes came very well packaged and in perfect condition. And in only two days! They came almost completely assembled and it only took me 30 minutes to put the pedals and fenders on.
My whole experience with HillEaters has been top notch! The service, delivery, and the bikes! All five stars!

This bike is well thought out. The torque sensor is smooth as silk. The frame is beautiful and sturdy. The wheels and upgraded Sapim spokes are solid and dependable. Other features like the stock saddle, motor inhibitors, grips, thumb throttle and LCD display just make this a damn good bike for the money. This bike cut my 30 km commute time in half and I no longer feel burnt out by the time I get home. I get excited to ride again and...it has cruise control for Pete's sake! I recommend the Grin Satiator charger and Schwalbe Marathon tire upgrades. Thanks Tora and Juiced Bikes for this amazing build and Dave at Hill Eater E-bikes for the stellar customer service!

I just received my Crosscurrent S yesterday so I jumped on my computer to view the delivery and set up videos, along with the owners manual. It took my about an hour to set the bike up. Nothing was amiss.
My main ride is a Kona Rove Al not a lightweight but the Crosscurrent is a heavy beast. I was tentative at first with the bike...not knowing what to expect. As suggested I rode the bike with out power, because you need to know what to expect if you run of out of juice. I rode through my neighborhood which has some slight grades and a few hills all on smooth pavement. Switched to Eco mode as Tora stated "it offsets the weight of the bike" and he is bang on. The weight issue started to dissipate for me. The bike/rider weight was offset by the motor nicely. Worked my way through the modes 1,2 and 3. The motor assist regardless of mode was noticeable on every incline (good thing) especially in a head wind. Driving on flat terrain I noticed the bike for me had a sweet spot and was traveling rather effortlessly in mode 1 doing 30-32 km. Some minor quirks that have been stated by others , the front fender rattled on occasion...will be swapping out the Kenda tires for Schwalbes... there was some tire or motor whine somewhere underneath my seat or by the front tire.
I got the XL frame 20" I am 6'1" and 195 lbs. The bike sizing was right for me. My initial ride was 26km and it was 20 degress celsius ( a perfect day for a bike ride). I am pleased with the out of the box value at this point. Hats off to Hill Eaters and Juiced from London ON.

World-class pedal assist system.
Once you experience the fully proportional torque sensing pedal assist system, you can’t imagine riding
anything else. Our already world-class assist system has been refined to be more intuitive and insanely smooth.
The advanced 104 magnetic pole HD cadence sensor tracks the tiniest pedal movement for lag-free startup.
The precision strain gauge measures your force on the pedals across the entire pedal stroke, amplifying your
force on the crank.
The precision RPM sensor measures the bikes speed and provides the optimum boost level to match your intention.
If you need more boost off the line, use the thumb throttle combined with pedaling for up to 1,000 Watts of peak
power to get you up to speed quickly. A useful feature not found on mid motor e-bikes.
What is Pedal Assist?
Pedal Assist automatically turns on the motor when you pedal. With pedal assist you do not need to use a throttle
to control the motor.
There are two types of Pedal Assist: Cadence Sensor Type which measures IF you are pedaling and a Torque Sensor
Type which measures HOW HARD you are pedaling.
1. Cadence Sensors (Basic)
The basic cadence sensor uses a magnet on the crank, it turns the motor ON when you start pedaling and turns
it OFF when you stop pedaling. It works more or less like a switch.
You have to control the boost level and speed by adjusting the assist mode manually up and down. Most basic
e-bikes have this.
The advantage is that it's an inexpensive way to get some sort of pedal assist onto the bike, but the disadvantage
is that the pedal assistance can feel jerky, laggy and counterintuitive. Also if you want to pedal faster than the
motor is spinning, the motor will actively work against your efforts.
2. Torque Sensors (Advanced)
The torque sensor is a totally different technology that uses a precision strain gauge. It measures your actual
force on the pedal, sampling at 1,000 times per second over the entire pedal stroke.
The harder you pedal, the more power it gives to the motor. If you pedal lighter, less power goes to the motor.
It makes this adjustment in real time so it is technically amplifying your every input. It feels like you are bionic.
Most all higher-end e-bikes use torque sensors and in some countries, cadence-only sensors are not allowed to
be sold. The disadvantage is the cost is significantly higher to implement this technology as the precision
component is relatively more expensive.
Will I feel the difference in the way the e-bike rides?
If you have a chance to ride a cadence-only e-bike and a torque-sensored setup back-to-back you will instantly
notice the difference. The torque sensor setup makes the bike feel weightless due to the amplification effect.
You also feel more in control of the bike.
How does our dual sensor work compared to a magnetic disc sensor?
Commuter-ready right out of the box.
No need to drive around to every bike shop or click every page on the internet. The S includes just about everything right out of the box.Comes Equipped
Every bike comes standard with a rack, fenders, a waterproof aluminum-body LED headlight, dual water bottle cage mounts,
dual kickstand mounts and ergonomic grips.
